daybreak is a design and technology studio ↗
i joined in 2024 after writing an email about carrot xylems.
since then, my role has grown organically, driven by a deep interest in how creative cultures take root and thrive.
today, i work across operations, strategy, content, and community to shape the studio’s evolving culture and identity.
at its core, my role is about translating ethos into expression.. weaving our philosophy into how we work and how we share it!!
a few highlights:
* piloting new modes of community programming and infrastructure to expand how we engage with the broader creative ecosystem
* developing systems to document our creative process and archive studio knowledge, turning internal moments into meaningful artifacts
* proposing and implementing internal rituals to bring more connection and playfulness into our everyday
* identifying meaningful distribution channels and industry awards that extend the reach and recognition of our work
* experimenting with with microsites, retrospective films, and bts content to explore how format and tone frame the stories we tell
* supporting our strategic positioning by synthesizing reference points and language to help articulate our philosophy with greater clarity
i’ve met some of my closest friends here.. people whose brilliance is matched only by their care!! i try to carry that energy forward and continue making space for more purposeful play, within our studio walls and beyond.
i stumbled into our wee team of three back in high school and quickly grew alongside it.. helping define how the product ecosystem looked, felt, and evolved from a couple thousand to over 120,000 members.
at every scale, i contributed across content, community, ops strategy, and product to make the platform feel more human and creatively alive.
some highlights:
* led community engagement efforts by shaping digital spaces that reflected the depth and diversity of creative perspectives
* defined and implemented a cohesive editorial voice that aligned product and community messaging with our broader vision and values
* ran the biweekly digest with sustained engagement (e.g. 40%+ open rates), aligning its format and partnerships with evolving readership
* launched microsites to mark milestones and spotlight community, using our site builder to celebrate both people and product
* supported creator-led marketing efforts that invited sustainable growth
* guided discovery to support meaningful connection and creative alignment
* conducted research to ground product direction in context and care
* prototyped interface ideas inspired by real-world gestures (e.g. bookshop staff picks), bringing extra heart and personality to curation
working with andy and mehdi taught me building something can be an act of trust.. an open, ongoing invitation to support how we live, connect, explore, and grow.
shaped by the devotion of the community it held, read.cv became a place where people could be met and held in their fullness.
i feel tremendously lucky to have witnessed and contributed to its existence. it was truly something special, and i like to believe its spirit continues to live on in the stories and friendships it inspired (and that continue to grow!!)
sincerity has always been my starting point. i try to stay true to who i am, especially as i keep learning what that really means.
growing up online, i found that the internet was a strangely generous place to figure things out. beneath all the chaos and noise, it gave me the language to wonder aloud about what i loved.. and a way to find others who felt the same way.
my childhood dream was to become an author..
nowadays, i still find myself thinking about stories all the time.. particularly, how we create space for others to share theirs. i’m drawn to the quieter structures of community and the subtle ways we can design for connection.
on the side, i've taken on select freelance and consulting projects. some of my favourite bits: launching a digital publication for stir, where i got to onboard and work with some of my all-time favourite writers.. as well as advising on 'gen z strategy' at a cheeky stealth startup or two.
when i have extra time to play, i also like to make strange, earnest little sites.. scrappy bits of html cobbled together at odd hours. somewhere along the way, these tiny experiments have turned into gentle portals, reaching across time and space to friends i never expected to meet.
through it all, i'm reminded that there's a special kind of magic in making things just because you care.. and trusting that someone else might care, too!!
